Impact of Low-Pressure UV Lamp on Swimming Pool Water Quality and Operating Costs

چکیده
UV lamps are being increasingly used in the treatment of swimming pool water, mainly due to their abilities disinfect and effectively remove chloramines (combined chlorine). However, application a closed loop system, such as that which water is treated, creates conditions under chlorinated then also irradiated with UV. Thus, advanced oxidation process occurs, affects transformation organic matter its increased reactivity, hence higher usage chlorine disinfectant. In addition, require electrical power periodic replacement filaments. order assess whether low-pressure lamp justified, quality tests an analysis operating costs (including energy consumption) system were carried out for two operation variants—those turned on off. The experiments real object AGH University Science Technology sports one year. consumption electricity reagents was measured. following values selected parameters observed (for without lamp, respectively): 0.68 0.52 mg/L combined chlorine; 3.12 3.02 dissolved carbon; 15.70 15.26 µg/L trihalomethanes; 7 6 cfu/mL mesophilic bacteria; 20 psychrophilic bacteria. Generally, statistically important differences not observed, thus technology did bring expected improvement quality. electric (by 29%) disinfectant 15%), need periodically replace filaments significantly 21%) ecological impact, this cannot be considered profitable or ecological.

Effects of medium-pressure UV lamps radiation on water quality in a chlorinated indoor swimming pool.
The aim of our study was to determine the impact of medium-pressure UV lamps radiation on water quality in a chlorinated indoor swimming pool. An indoor swimming pool was equipped with two medium-pressure UV lamps. We collected eight samples of water daily over a four-weeks period and measured total and free chlorine, pH, water temperature, bacteriological parameters, total organic carbon and t...
متن کاملDisinfection by-product formation of UV treated swimming pool water
Water samples from 3 indoor swimming pool facilities were tested to evaluate UV-induced effects on swimming pool water chemistry. Concentration change of several DBPs was investigated in experiments including medium pressure UV treatment with and without chlorine and post-UV chlorination. Post-UV chlorine consumption increased, dose-dependently, with UV treatment dose. A clear absence of trihal...
متن کاملSurveillance of the physical, chemical, and microbiological quality of swimming pool water in the Hamadan province
Swimming is considered one of the most conventional recreational activities for both leisure and exercising. Swimming pools have either public or private usage. Nevertheless, if the water of the swimming pools is polluted and is not identified on time, it could result in the transmission of various diseases to the people who use them. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to assess th...
متن کاملPhotolytic removal of DBPs by medium pressure UV in swimming pool water.
Medium pressure UV is used for controlling the concentration of combined chlorine (chloramines) in many public swimming pools. Little is known about the fate of other disinfection by-products (DBPs) in UV treatment. Photolysis by medium pressure UV treatment was investigated for 12 DBPs reported to be found in swimming pool water: chloroform, bromodichloromethane, dibromochloromethane, bromofor...
متن کاملPhotodegradation of sulphadimethoxine in water by medium pressure UV lamp.
The photodegradation rate of sulphadimethoxine (SMT) in water was studied under polychromatic UV light, in a bench scale apparatus. SMT photolysis was carried out at pH levels of 2.5, 6.5 and 10 to study the impact of acid base properties on the degradation of SMT. The highest SMT photolysis fluence based rate was found at pH=2.5 (k=7.22x10(-4) cm2/mJ) and the lowest rate at pH=10 (k=4.72x10(-4...
